FAQ

A few things to know before you start.

What is the best open-source photo editor?

The right choice depends on your work. PhotoCraft offers a familiar layered editing workflow in an early alpha. LightCraft focuses on developing photos. For important work, test your files and keep an original copy before choosing a tool.

Are these apps really free?

The listed projects publish their source under MIT or Apache-2.0 and provide free browser builds. This site does not charge to open them. Individual bundled assets keep their own licenses.

Do I need an account?

No account is required to use this website or launch the hosted editors. Optional sharing or network features inside an upstream app may have separate requirements.

Which of these apps run in the browser?

All 13 projects publish WebAssembly builds, including FilmCraft. FigCraft is a canvas preview and SoundCraft opens a demo session; their native file dialogs are not connected in the pinned web releases. Each app page explains its browser limits.

Is this the official ArtCraft site?

No. Open Source Photo Editor is an independent website and is not affiliated with ArtCraft. The apps are developed by the ArtCraft team; source code and release links are provided on every app page.
